The Saiyans
The Saiyans , an ancient race of warriors renowned throughout the universe . They are beings of great power , potential, and their desire to fight is almost unmatched.
Although their desire to fight is strong, they are not inherently evil. Their original world, which was Planet Vegeta was destroyed by Frieza. They became space pirates, under Frieza's command.
What do they look like? What can we say about their physical appearance?
The tail
In Universe 7 , Saiyans are born with a monkey tail that allows them to transform into a Great Ape when they look at the full moon. Saiyans who lived on Planet Vegeta , such as Bardock , Paragus , King Vegeta , Vegeta , Nappa , and Raditz , wear their tails wrapped around their waists in a fashionable belt. This custom is likely to prevent their tails from being easily reached and grabbed by opponents. When a Saiyan 's tail is squeezed, it causes them excruciating pain, though Nappa and Vegeta become immune to it. Goku has also become immune to this weakness, shown when Krillin tried to squeeze his tail, to no avail. If a Saiyan's tail is cut off while in Great Ape form, they revert to normal.
Hair
Pure-blooded Saiyans ' hair will retain its natural "spiky" look and a consistent length, unless the Saiyan cuts their hair. However, a half-blood Saiyan will not have this gene. So, if a Saiyan has a baby with a human, the baby will have hair similar to humans. The hair will grow and may be other colors than Saiyan hair (black). Additionally, it will still have that spiky look that Saiyans have. If a Saiyan goes Super Saiyan , their hair will have this spiky look, but when they return to their normal state, the hair will return to its original cut and color.
The recovery
Most people are familiar with the Saiyan 's ability to gain great strength after being defeated, but this is not an ability unique to Saiyans. Humans also possess this ability. Let's take an example. When you lift weights, you actually break down muscle fibers, which are then regenerated to become larger and stronger. However, the Saiyan 's ability seems to be much more powerful, as they gain great strength from any defeat, which is why Saiyan power levels increase so much compared to Nameks and humans. Again, this is also a genetic trait, it occurs in almost all life forms, and even hybrid Saiyans gain this ability. So it must be a dominant Saiyan gene. Overall, Saiyans are genetically similar to humans, but after generations of fighting, and working for Frieza in particular, they have become a very strong and proud race.
The fight
Fighting is a big part of the Saiyans life. They love it. They will spend their entire lives trying to get stronger and trying to be the strongest in the universe . The Saiyans planet is 10 times that of Earth , giving them a nice home planet to train on. Fighting is in the Saiyan 's blood . Frieza knew this and enslaved the Saiyan race by having them take over planets and sell them to the highest bidder. Eventually, the Saiyans become too strong and Frieza was afraid of how much stronger they could get. Frieza then destroyed the entire planet in one attack. Only Goku, Vegeta, Nappa, Broly, Paragas, Turles, and Raditz survived. So Goku, who happened to be a "low class" Saiyan , was sent to a planet he could conquer. But when Goku was a baby, he fell on his head, causing him to lose his memory.
Their transformations
A genetic trait, which is buried deep within every Saiyan . Saiyan transformations are triggered by extreme emotion. Similar to when we cry, the tear ducts are activated by hormones sent from the brain. Likewise for Saiyans , when they experience extreme emotion , their brain sends a chemical message to "activate" the Super Saiyan gene. The transformation only occurs when the power level is high enough, however. Once the first transformation is performed, the Saiyan can learn to perform the transformation without extreme emotion. The Super Saiyan gene seems to be a very dominant gene, as even the 1/16 Saiyan, Goku Jr could become SSJ. But if the child is conceived before the parent goes SSJ , they will have to activate their gene in the normal way. If the Saiyan has already gone SSJ, this causes a change in the DNA that allows the Saiyan to become SSJ much easier.
